What Is a Profile?

A profile is a place on UseVerb where you can share information about yourself.This may include interests, photos, talents, endorsements, experience and education.


Please do not share any information that you do not want to make publicly available. Other members will be able to view your profile.

Public and Private Profile

Public Profiles: If your profile is public all members on UseVerb will be able to view your profile. They will be able to view your about, talent & endorsements, experience and education sections.


Private Profiles: If your profile is private, members will only be able to see your name, member's name, location, connections, network and the date you joined.

Edit My Profile?

  1. Click your profile photo, which is located on the right hand side of the screen
  2. Once the profile section loads, click the edit button
  3. A window will appear where you can edit your profile

Update Profile Photo?

  1. Click your profile photo which is located on the right hand side of the screen
  2. Once the profile section loads, click the edit button
  3. Click Change Profile Photo
  4. Choose a photo from your computer or mobile device
  5. Crop the photo for best fit
  6. Click the Upload Button

  3. A window will load where you can edit your first name or last name

About Me Guide

The purpose of the about me page is for other people to learn who you are and what you do. This may be prospective employers, potential clients, website members and other professional connections

  • Decide if you want to use first or third person (There is no correct answer)
  • Don't ramble
  • Stay humble
  • Use your own voice
  • Be honest

  6. The talent & endorsement will be automatically uploaded

Purpose Of The Notifications Tab?

The Notification Tab Is Used to Display the Following:

  • New messages in chat groups
  • General notifications
  • New mentions in chat groups
  • Follow requests

Pause Notifications

To Pause Notifications:

  1. Click on the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen
  2. Click on the notifications bar
  3. Click on the pause all slider
  4. Set the amount of time you would like notifications to be paused for
  5. Click apply, to apply changes
  6. Click cancel, to cancel changes

Work Chat Information

Send a New Message

Direct messages are private messages sent from one UseVerb account to another. You can send a new message to anyone that follows you.


To Send a Direct Message:

  1. Select the new message icon at the top left of your screen (It is next to the search bar)

  2. Search for the person you wish to message

  3. Click on the person's name.

  4. Begin typing or click the keyboard icon

  5. Type your message into the message box

  6. You can include a photo, file attachment, video or a GIF in your message

  7. Click the send arrow to send the message

Edit a Message

To Edit a Sent Message:

  1. Click on the message you wish to edit.

  2. Click the edit icon.

  3. Move the cursor down to the message box.

  4. Edit the message (You have 2mins to edit this message).

  5. Click the send arrow to send the message.

Delete a Sent Message

To Delete a Sent Message:

  1. Right click on the message you wish to delete.

  2. Select the Delete icon.

  3. The Message will be deleted.

React to A Message

To React to a Message

  1. Click the message to reply to.

  2. Scroll through the available emojis.

  3. Click the emoji of your choice.

  4. The message will now have a reaction from you.

Create A Channel

  1. Click the new message icon at the top left of your screen (It is next to the search bar)

  2. Click create a new group

  3. Search your contacts and click on the people you want in your group

  4. Name your group

  5. Click Create Group.

  6. Click back to change.

Group Information

The Information Tab Will Allow Access to The Following:

  • The title of the channel

  • Channel members

  • Removing members.

  • Adding members

  • Mentions

  • Replies

  • Notifications

  • Shared notes

  • Private notes

  • Shared media

  • Leaving a channel


To Access The Group Information:

  1. Click the channel you wish to view.

  2. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

Leave A Channel

To Leave a Channel:

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click the leave a channel.

Can the Admin Leave?

The creator of the group (admin) cannot leave a channel, without first assigning a new owner.


Delete a Channel

To Delete a Channel: (You have to be the owner)

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click delete chat.

  3. Click yes to delete chat.

  4. Click cancel, if you wish not to delete the chat.

Edit Channel Name & Avatar?

Only the owner of the group can edit the Channel name and avatar. To edit the group name:

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click on the channel name.

  3. Write text in the space provided.

  4. Click save, to save changes

  5. Click cancel, to cancel the changes.

Add a New Member

To Add a New Member (You have to be the owner):

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click on members.

  3. Click the add members icon, next to settings.

  4. Search or select the new group member.

  5. Click add, to add the member.

  6. Click cancel, to cancel the changes.

Remove a Member

Members can only be removed by the admin. Individual members can leave the channel if they wish to.


To remove a group member:

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click on members.

  3. Click on the settings icon at the top right hand side of the screen.

  4. Find the group member you wish to remove.

  5. Press the X button to remove the group member.

  6. Click yes, to remove the member

  7. Click cancel, to cancel the changes.

Shared Media

Shared media is media files, documents and links that have been saved for further reference.


To Access Shared Media:

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click the shared media title.

  3. To view all shared media, click the see all button.

  4. Click the Docs, Media and Links to view.

  5. To exit, click the back arrow button on the top left hand side.

What Are Group Mentions?

Mentions are when another person directly mentions you within a channel. This can be used if you need to get a specific person's attention within the channel

How to Mention

To Mention Another Person:

  1. Click the message box.

  2. Use the @ symbol and type the member's name into the space provided.

  3. Type your message.

  4. Click the send arrow to send your mention.

Mention Everyone

To mention all group members:

  1. Click the message box.

  2. Type @all.

  3. Type your message.

  4. Click the send arrow.

Search Mentions

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click mentions.

  3. Click the search bar.

  4. Search for mentions.

  5. Press enter when complete.

  6. To exit, press the back button.

What are Replies?

Replies allow a person to reply to a specific message within a channel. Replies have similar functionality to mentions, but are focused on specific messages.

Reply to Someone

  1. Click the specific message you wish to reply to.

  2. Click Reply to.

  3. A new message window will appear.

  4. Click the message box.

  5. Type reply and send the message.

View Replies

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click replies.

  3. A new window will open where you can view your replies.

Find Group Notifications

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click Notifications.

Update Group Notifications

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click Notifications.

  3. Adjust notifications to your needs.

  4. Click apply, to apply changes.

  5. Click cancel, to cancel changes.

What is Shared Notes

Shared notes are notes that everyone in the channel can view. This may be important links, messages and documents.

Edit Shared Notes

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click shared notes.

  3. Click the dummy text.

  4. Type shared note.

  5. Press save to add the shared note.

  6. To exit, press the back button.

Delete Shared Notes

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click shared notes.

  3. Click the text.

  4. Delete the text.

  5. Press save to add the shared note.

  6. To exit, press the back button.

What is Private Notes

Private notes are notes that only you can see about a specific channel.

Edit a Private Note

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click the text underneath the private note title.

  3. Type your private note.

  4. Press save, to save the private note.

Delete a Private Note

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click the text underneath the private note title.

  3. Delete the text.

  4. Press save, to save changes.

What does Follow mean?

To connect with someone means they have the chance to follow you back.


In order to send someone a message, you need to be a mutual connection. A mutual connection is where you are following someone and they are following you.


You can still send someone a message without following, however this will be an unsolicited message. In this case the person receiving the message will have to approve it before you can message each other.

How to Follow Someone

  1. Click the Contacts icon.

  2. Click add new member icon on the top right hand side.

  3. Enter a name, email or phone number.

  4. If the person is a member they will appear.

  5. Click the Follow button.

Who am I Following?

  1. Click the Contacts icon.

  2. Click the Following Button

Who is Following Me?

  1. Click the Contacts icon.

  2. Click the Followers Button.

What does Connections mean?

Connections are where someone is following you and they are following you back.

Search Contacts

  1. Click on the information icon located at the top right hand side of the channel.

  2. Click the search bar.

  3. Enter the contact name.

  4. Click on the chat icon.

Update Email Address

  1. Click the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Click the account bar.

  3. Click the email address.

  4. Click add new email address.

  5. Click save, to save changes.

  6. Click cancel, to cancel changes.

Update Phone Number

  1. Click the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Click the account bar.

  3. Click phone number.

  4. Click the phone number box.

  5. Click save, to save changes.

  6. Click cancel, to cancel changes.

Update Password

  1. Click on the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Click the privacy and security tab.

  3. Click the change password tab.

  4. Type your current password.

  5. Type new password.

  6. Select sign out of all your devices.

  7. Click save changes, to change password.

  8. Click cancel, to cancel changes.

How to Block Accounts

  1. Click on the Contacts icon.

  2. Find your contact you wish to block.

  3. Once on their profile, click the three dots.

  4. Click block.

  5. The member will now be blocked.

View Blocked Accounts

  1. Click on the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Click the Privacy & Security tab.

  3. Click the Blocked Accounts tab.

  4. All your blocked accounts will be viewable.

Unblock an Account

  1. Click on the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Click the Privacy & Security tab.

  3. Click the Blocked Accounts tab.

  4. Click unblock for the member you wish to unblock.

  5. The member will now be unblocked.

Report Members

  1. Click the Contacts Icon
  2. Click the connections button
  3. Search or select the member you would like to report
  4. Once you are on their profile, click the three dots button (To the right of Send Message Button)
  5. Click report member
  6. Enter the reason for reporting
  7. Click the Submit Button

How to Log Out?

  1. Click the settings icon located at the bottom right hand side of the screen.

  2. Click the Log Out button.

  3. Click the Log Out button, to confirm.

  4. Click cancel, to cancel logging out.
